Charing Cross, on the Northern and Bakerloo lines, opened in 1907. In 1291 Edward I marked the final resting place of his Queen Eleanor’s funeral cortège with a cross. The brooch is a Christmas tree because each year Norway gives Great Britain a Norwegian fir as a gift in recognition of our nation’s support during WWII; it is erected in Trafalgar Square next to Charing Cross Tube station.
Trivia Latvia had the first decorated Christmas tree in 1510.
