Highgate opened in 1941 on the Northern line. Close by is Highgate Cemetery, opened in 1847, famous for both its ornate Victorian memorials and deceased residents – perhaps the most well-known being Karl Marx. Other notable figures buried in the cemetery include George Eliot, Christina Rossetti and Douglas Adams. The brooch is a gravestone with RIP etched into it, a timely reminder to us all.
Trivia The Poet Laureate Sir John Betjeman was taught by T. S. Eliot at Highgate School.
