Pinner opened in 1885 in North West London on the Metropolitan line. The hamlet was recorded in 1232 as Pinnora, and since 1336 residents have taken part in a street fair each May, granted by Edward III. Mrs Beeton lived in the area between 1856 and 1862, her Book of Household Management first published in 1861. The brooch is a small enamel heart-shaped pin cushion with pins and other sewing accoutrements.
Trivia The safety pin was invented by Walter Hunt in 1849.
